AP Pumps

Micro-sized pumps ideal for tight spaces and battery applications

Compact and portable – AP Micro Air Pumps are an affordable solution for battery powered applications where space is at a minimum.

Ideal for any industry, these pumps are unique because of their rotary diaphragm, size, and lower maximum pressure abilities.  Please note these pumps do not pull a vacuum; they only create pressure for air/gas flow.

We updated Model AP-2P02A from previous Model 2P02 with an improvement in less air charging time.  However, if air charging time is a non-issue for your application, we still have a limted number of Model 2P02 offered at discounted rate for a limited time.   For more information about this option, call a Product and Application Specialist at (800) 338-0404.

Update on Titanium Springs Testing

Passivation processes are complete

As reported in the August 2011 SmartTalk, we’ve been exploring the use of Titanium Springs in our valves.  To start off the testing process, we began with Model #150 valves and wound the Titanium springs to 0.5 PSI.  More recently, we have tested three different passivation processes and are currently reviewing the best option.

Passivation is like immunizing springs against particles or debris, and it also has the additional benefit of strengthening and preserving the appearance of the metal.   For the new Titanium Springs, we have tested Nitric, Citric and TI polish passivations.

Our engineering team is currently reviewing these test results and will report their recommendations as early as next week.  For customers interested in Titianium springs, we should be able to sample a Model #150 valve with a 0.5 PSI opening pressure as soon as February 1.

Featured O-ring Material: Kalrez®

Working with really high temperatures and extremely caustic substances makes Kalrez® o-rings an option when no other o-ring will do the job.  Kalrez®, known to be expensive throughout the marketplace, is an o-ring material that is still worth consideration if your application requires the use of harsh chemicals.  Because Kalrez® works so well in extreme environments, cost can be justified with savings in other areas such as ensuring a device will run smoothly and efficiently because the o-ring seal is capable of resisting particularly rigid substances.

Kalrez® is available in all of our Series 300 Modular Check Valves, as well as Model #150 Standard Cartridge Valve, Model #157 Manual Relief Bleed Valve, and Model #15b Flanged Outlet Valve.  It is important to note that we are not able to offer Kalrez® with a spring lower than 0.5 PSI.

Kalrez® works especially well with:

  • Low Out Gassing
  • Chlorine Wet/Dry
  • Petroleum Oil
  • Chlorinated Hydrocarbons

Temperature ranges for Kalrez® are from -10°F to 615°F. This material is available in 80 or 90 durometer (hardness of the o-ring) sizes.

As you will see in the chart below, Kalrez® has a “good” rating for wear, compression set, and permeation resistance.  It is rated “moderate” for short-term resilience.
